Getting Started with Sim Racer Tools

Sim Racer Tools records your sessions while you drive and gives you tools to study them, plan races and improve your setups. It supports five games: Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC), Assetto Corsa Evo (ACE), Automobilista 2 (AMS2), Le Mans Ultimate (LMU) and Project Motor Racing (PMR).

Every tool works the same way in every game, so once you’ve learned one game you know them all. Where a game can’t do something, the page for that tool says so. Supported Games has the full list.

Sim Racer Tools comes in two parts:

  • The desktop app runs quietly in the background on your sim rig, with an icon in the Windows notification area (the system tray). It notices when one of your games starts and records your sessions, laps and telemetry.
  • The web app is where you use the tools. It opens in your web browser, on the rig itself or on any tablet or computer on the same network. See The Web App.

Install Sim Racer Tools from the Microsoft Store.

When it first starts, two things open:

  • The desktop app’s window, with a tab for each game, plus General, Maintenance, Integrations and About. The Running Games panel shows a light for each game, lit while that game is running.
  • The web app in your default browser, showing the main dashboard.

On the General tab you can choose whether the window shows each time the app starts (Show This Window On Startup) and whether the web app opens too (Launch Web App On Startup). Closing the window doesn’t stop the app: it carries on in the notification area. To stop it completely, right-click its icon and choose Exit.

Most games need nothing, or one setting turned on in the game itself.

Sim Racer Tools uses ACC’s broadcasting settings. If they aren’t set up, the app offers to set them up for you the first time it sees ACC: accept the suggested port and click Save. If you click Cancel, the app can’t record ACC sessions.

If you drive online with a different name from your ACC driver profile, add it on the desktop app’s ACC tab so your laps are recognised as yours. See Game Settings.

Nothing to set up. To use the Setup Manager or the Setup Advisor on a car’s default setup, save the default setup once in the game first: ACE keeps its default setups where other apps can’t read them.

Turn on shared memory in the game’s options: Options > System > Shared Memory, set to Project CARS 2.

Nothing to set up. Sim Racer Tools reads LMU’s live data while you drive and imports your results files afterwards.

Turn on UDP telemetry in the game’s settings. Sim Racer Tools uses the address and port set there.

If you also use another app that reads PMR’s telemetry, such as SimHub, only one of them can receive it directly. The desktop app’s PMR tab lets you set a different address and port, for example to receive it forwarded from the other app. See Game Settings.

Leave Sim Racer Tools running and start your game. Its light in Running Games comes on, and everything you drive is recorded. There’s nothing to start or stop.
